Mission
Tyler Water Utilities is dedicated to providing safe drinking water along with sanitary sewer services in a fair and impartial manner. The Water Business Office is resolved to improving "Customer Service" to the highest level possible by informing, educating and caring.
Administrative
This department provides executive and administrative support and oversight to all water/sewer departments. It provides planning, personnel administration, personnel development, records management, contract administration, major capital water and sewer infrastructure maintenance, additions, and/or replacement activities as well as planning for the most efficient funding for same. Provide oversight to bring all water and sewer functions into a cohesive operation to serve our customers. Provide liaison with other departments and with Federal, State, and local organizations regarding water/sewer matters.
Business
This department handles billing and collection activities for over 30,500 water meters in service and over 26,600 solid waste customers. Customer services include over 10,000 connects and disconnects annually, transfer of service locations, as well as emergency services required throughout the customer base. The department reads water meters 366,000 times annually, and assists other departments with emergency situations as necessary. This department provides oversight and direction for the overall financial aspects of the Water Fund including budget preparation and monitoring, processing payment requests, progress payments to contractors, long-range cash flow planning, long-range capital improvement plans, rate studies, and other reporting functions.
