What is fraud?
Fraud – Acts characterized by deceit, concealment, or violations of trust that are perpetrated by individuals or organizations to obtain money, property, services, avoid payment, and/or secure personal or business advantage.
Examples of fraud include but are not limited to:
- Fraudulent Reporting of Finances
- Waste and abuse of City Resources
- Credit Card Abuse
- Embezzlement/Theft
- Travel Fraud
- Grant Fraud
- Conflict of Interest
- Sabotage
- Bribes
- Gross Mismanagement
- Kickbacks
- Acceptance of Inappropriate Gifts
- Misuse of City Time, Property, or Position
What should I not report?
The following types of allegations should not be reported to the Fraud Hotline:
- EEOC Complaints
- Safety Hazards
- Grievances
- Workplace Violence
- Harassment
- Substance Abuse
- Sexual Harassment
- Customer Service Issues
- Workers’ Compensation Issues
These items should be reported to their respective departments.
