The Tyler Transit system provides safe, dependable, low cost transportation service to the citizens of Tyler. Currently five fixed routes converge at a central transfer point allowing passengers to access any section of Tyler along the City’s major arteries.
The City of Tyler has undergone tremendous growth and considerable changes in traffic patterns since the last time transit routes and schedules were studied. This has resulted in buses not meeting the published schedule and not being as reliable as needed by citizens to meet their transportation needs. The City has undertaken a comprehensive analysis of the entire Tyler Transit bus system in order to redesign services to better meet the current and projected needs of the City of Tyler.
The route study recommendations seek to improve your transit system, specifically to:
· Implement new routes to enhance customer service

· Improve reliability of the system to better meet transportation needs
Elements of the study include:
- Existing system conditions analysis
- Market research – demographics, travel patterns, needs of existing and potential riders
- Community Participation – Advisory committee and public feedback
- Recommended service changes – A comprehensive list of service changes designed to improve route directness and system connectivity, increase ridership, and improve cost-effectiveness of bus operations.
