The Street Department performs maintenance on approximately 474 miles of streets within the city limits of Tyler. The Street Department is comprised of the following crews: Street Maintenance, Drainage Maintenance, Street Sweeping, Tree and Brush Crews, and Equipment Support Crew.
Services performed by the department include: Street Maintenance Utility Cut Repair Valley Gutter Placement Inlet Box Reconstruction Tree Trimming Cleaning of City Streets Clearing Right of Way Mowing Right of Way Creek Maintenance The department uses a classification system to rate all City streets and schedule maintenance and overlays. The ratings range from A to D, with A being excellent condition and D being substandard. Over the last five years an extra effort has been made to bring all D streets up to standard.
